The Assess IT tool integrates conventional financial and implementation measures to help users consider whether or not to invest in a new technology. The tool guides users to identify departmental or campus-wide priorities regarding technology implementation. Assess IT generates a report that details findings based on a set of easy-to-understand questions, fostering more focused decision-making conversations among interested parties on your campus.
As you answer questions, think about other technology acquisitions, the ways in which a new technology was implemented and some key decision-making factors in its launch:
The importance of each will be different for each institution, and even differ across departments within an institution. For example, campuses looking to implement new technology may weigh potential impacts on staff roles heavily, another might exclusively prioritize costs.
In Section 1, rank these five categories in terms of importance for the department that will implement the technology, or for your entire institution. The ranking should reflect an honest assessment of where you think your institution places the most value. Based on your responses, an automatic weight will be assigned to each category.
In Section 2, complete the set of questions about each of the categories. The combination of the weights and your responses will be used to calculate an overall score.
The Assess IT tool was developed as part of a collaboration between Jobs for the Future and Eduventures, Inc.
